In order to ensure positive public transit experience for passengers, while maintaining high operational standards, the following guidelines and procedures are in place: 

• Passengers are asked to be ready at the start of their pick-up window. Upon arrival, the driver will only wait five minutes for the passenger to board the vehicle before the trip is marked a no-show.
• When possible, ACT passengers will be notified by telephone if the vehicle dispatched for their trip will be arriving more than 30 minutes later than the scheduled pickup time (to facilitate this communication, please make sure contact information saved with the scheduling office is current).
• Passengers should not be kept on board a vehicle more than 90 minutes on any one-way trip, barring events beyond the control of the service provider.
• All passengers riding in any public transportation vehicle must use seatbelts in accordance with the State of Michigan Seatbelt Law.
• All personal mobility devices being transported must be properly secured. A respirator or portable oxygen supply is allowed when used in a safe manner.
• All Passengers are to remain seated until the vehicle comes to a full and complete stop.
• Passengers may only carry packages or bags on board that they and/or their attendant can manage in one trip without the assistance of the driver.
• Common courtesy is expected at all times. Vulgar or degrading language, lewd behavior, or harassment of other passengers or ACT staff will not be tolerated and will result in suspension of riding privileges.
• No smoking or vaping is permitted on ACT vehicles. Additionally, passengers are not allowed to eat or drink on the bus.
• Service animals trained to assist with the special needs of individuals are welcome.  Service animals need to be under the control of the handler and housebroken. Any other animals boarding an ACT bus must be in a travel carrier.
• All cancellations must be made one hour prior to scheduled pick up time. Passengers are only allowed two late-cancellations or no-shows in a 30-day window; once the third no-show/late cancellation is accrued, transportation services will be suspended for up to 30 days.
• Allegan County Transportation will not discriminate on the grounds of race, color, national origin, gender, age, or disability. Allegan County has an open-door policy.

No Shows and Late Cancellations

A "No Show" is a passenger who is not at the scheduled point of pickup within 5 minutes from the time the bus driver arrives. To prevent no-shows from occurring, ACT passengers are asked to be ready at the start of their pick-up window. 

A "No Show" is also a passenger who changes his/her mind and "waves" away a driver who has arrived at the scheduled pickup time and location. ACT passengers will be allowed a total of 2 "No Shows" or "Late Cancellations" within a 30 consecutive day period. Due to the impact on schedules and other potential passengers, the third "No Show" or "Late Cancellation" within a 30-day period will result in suspension of service for 30 days. Attempts to contact the passenger will be made after the second "No Show" and/or "Late Cancellation" occurrence, or when the next trip request is made. A passenger can appeal the suspension by the appeal process.

ACT passengers are requested to be considerate of fellow passengers, as every trip which is not canceled takes away a trip from another passenger. When a reservation is made, please contact the scheduling office on the afternoon prior to trip date to confirm pick-up and drop-off times.
